Calafiori on Serie A vs Premier League and Arsenal Move

Riccardo Calafiori is gearing up for his return to the Stadio Olimpico, where he began his career with Roma. He spoke to the press along with Luciano Spalletti ahead of the Nations League clash versus Belgium (via Mediaset).

“Playing there will surely give me something extra, and I’ll try to exploit it on the pitch. I’m thrilled, as I’ll be in front of my friends and family. At Bologna, it was my first year where I felt important for a team and a whole city. I’ve great memories and maintained a beautiful relationship with everybody. I wanted to pay a visit, and I’m glad I did.”

He attended the recent Felsinei game versus Parma. Calafiori dished on the contrast between Serie A and the Premier League.

“It’s very different, for instance, the intensity in training and during matches. Every game is hard-fought no matter the level of the opponents. Nobody focuses too much on defending, so it’s more entertaining to follow.”

The defender drew a comparison between Mikel Arteta and Luciano Spalletti.

“Their common trait is that they want to dominate the play through their style. I agree with their approach. It’s better to face opponents that way without suffering too much in the back.”

Calafiori addressed his move to Arsenal.

“My life and career changed with no forewarning in the last three or four months. I feel more responsibility, but I like it because it means that I’m doing well and that everybody expects a lot from me.”
