Hakan Calhanoglu looked back at his rare error from the spot and spoke about his future and more in an interview with Turkish outlet TV8,5 (via Calciomercato).
“I don’t shy away from my responsibilities. If I miss a PK, I’ll take the next one. Some may think I have an ego, but it’s not about that. I believe in myself.”
Calhanoglu revealed a backstory about the transfer market.
“I had the chance to return to Turkey when I was at Milan, but Galatasaray were holding their election, and the deal didn’t go through. I’m an Inter player and extended my contract until 2027. I don’t know what will happen. It’d be wrong for me to say something. I don’t want to mislead anybody.”
Calhanoglu examined the wild draw with Juventus.
“Before the game, I told my teammates to pay close attention to Kenan Yildiz and to not let him breathe. He came off the bench and scored twice, earning a point for his side. I had told them so.”
Calhanoglu dished on the Champions League final versus Manchester City.
“Losing it was a tough moment for us, but we lifted the Scudetto and won the 2nd star the following year. We’re doing well now, and the next matches will be important for us. The new format is very different. We hope to have another chance. I’m happy for Arda Guler, who took it home with Real Madrid.”
“I agree with those who complain about the thick schedule. There’s no time to rest when you play every two or three days. There’s the break now, and then we’ll never stop. I don’t watch football at home because I don’t have time.”
