Cambiaso Agent Reveals Inter Interest Before Juventus

Andrea Cambiaso decided the Verona contest at the death with a tap-in for his first Juventus goal. His agent Giovanni Dia disclosed that the Bianconeri pipped Inter at the post to sign him in 2022 in an interview with TuttoSport (via Fantacalcio).

“Federico Cherubini and Giovanni Manna believed in him a lot and spent nearly €9M to sign him for Genoa. It was a sizeable investment that allowed them to beat the Nerazzurri. Director Piero Ausilio wanted him, but his team couldn’t seal the deal at that time, and the Old Lady swooped in. Moreover, Cristiano Giuntoli targeted him when he was at Alessandria back in the day and knows him perfectly.”

Cambiaso was then quickly loaned out to Bologna.

“He didn’t bat an eye. Making that step under Thiago Motta was important. He acquired the necessary maturity to reach Juventus ready to play without rushing things. Andrea and I never disagreed on any decision. He listens, which very few footballers do, and that makes everything easier.”

Dia was delighted with the goal.

“It was an immense joy and looked like a movie. I started weeping. All his previous spells came to mind during his celebration, from playing in the amateurs to Serie C to his ACL tear. The sacrifices and his unrelenting will brought him to Juventus.”

Cambiaso has big goals in mind.

“He aims at being called up by Italy for the European Championship and wants to stay at Juventus for 15 years.”
