Cambiaso on the rise – Juventus wingback attracts Real Madrid interest and Aims for Italy Call-up

Andrea Cambiaso has been one of the most consistent players at Juventus since the start of the season, and his displays have caught the attention of Real Madrid. Los Blancos have one of the most splendid squads in Europe and are among the favorites to lift the Champions League trophy based on the odds of sporting bets online, but they might decide to bolster their ranks by trying to poach the Italian this summer.

Sadly for the Bianconeri, they are currently enduring a torrid run, only registering one win from their last seven fixtures. It came in the shape of a last-gasp victory at home at the expense of the struggling Frosinone.

Nevertheless, Cambiaso remains one of the few bright spots of the club’s campaign.

The Turin-based giants initially signed the versatile wingback in the summer of 2022 following his breakthrough campaign at Genoa, but immediately sent him on loan to Bologna.

This proved to be a wise decision after all, as the young player amassed valuable Serie A experience while developing his game under the guidance of one of the finest young managers in Europe in the shape of Thiago Motta, who might curiously follow suit to Turin if Juventus decide to part ways with Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the season.

Upon his return to the club, Cambiaso instantly cemented himself as a pillar in Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation. He can fill in on either flank while sporadically acting in a more central role whenever his services are required in the middle of the park.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via IlBianconero, the Italian’s prowess have caught the attention of Real Madrid who will be looking to bolster their fullback department this summer.

So it remains to be seen if Los Merengues will launch a genuine onslaught for the former Genoa man in the summer.

On another note, the Roman newspaper notes that Cambiaso is looking to earn a call-up from the Italian national team later this month.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti had already added the Juventus star to the fold last November. The Azzurri will take on Venezuela and Ecuador in back-to-back friendlies on the 21st and 24th of March.

This would be the final chance for Cambiaso to impress the former Napoli manager up-close-and-personal before next summer’s Euro 2024.

Nevertheless, earning a call-up for the tournament won’t be an easy task, as Spalletti is spoiled for choice in the fullback/wingback department.

Cambiaso will have to compete with the likes of Federico Dimarco, Destiny Udogie, Cristiano Biraghi and Leonardo Spinazzola on the left flank. On the other hand, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Matteo Darmian, Davide Calabria and Raoul Bellanova are some of the right-back options.

Yet, Cambiaso’s versatility could eventually play in his favor, especially if keeps producing the goods for Juventus.
