Cannavaro Reveals Premier League Inquiries and His Dream Job

Fabio Cannavaro is gearing up for his first European gig: “I have been coaching for six years at this point. Chinese football seems low-level to many people, but I managed Guangzhou Evergrande, which won a lot. I have to make the right choice as it pertains to my next team. I am not in a rush, though. When I was playing, I did not imagine I would wind up on the bench, as I thought I would become an executive. I realized that something was still burning inside of me during my final year in Dubai.”

Cannavaro received some offers lately, as he told Sky: “When I quit, my idea was to re-start from Italy. The fact that I had the opportunity to talk with the Polish national team, Everton and Watford was surely pleasing. I would have maybe taken the first job if I had more time. Preparing a key World Cup qualifier in two days was not ideal. I have been fielding many calls from Asian and Middle-Eastern sides, but my intention is to stay in the Peninsula.”

Cannavaro indicated his biggest aspiration: “It would be a dream to coach Napoli, as I have been a lifelong fan. I know that I have to work hard and make more experience to reach it. We will see in the future. They are a good team helmed by a great gaffer.”

The 2006 Ballon d’Or winner commented on the Azzurri: “Missing two World Cups in a row would be a real catastrophe. I am worried about potentially facing Portugal on the road, but this group has been capable of extraordinary things. Maybe one day I will be able to return to the national team, which has always been my home.”
