Capital Gains Investigation on Juventus and More Clubs Concluded

The Procura Federale of the Italian Football Association (FIGC) has concluded their first round of investigations on suspicious capital gains. There are a total of 11 clubs that received a notification from the Federal Prosecutor, 5 of which are from Serie A: Juventus, Napoli, Empoli, Genoa and Sampdoria.

The other clubs involved are Pisa and Parma (Serie B), Pescara and Pro Vercelli (Lega Pro), Novara and Chievo Verona (non-professional clubs).

Companies and clubs will have 15 days to get access to the investigation acts and articulate their defense. After that, the Prosecutor may decide to formulate charges or close the proceedings. The clubs will be able to negotiate a settlement directly with the Prosecutor.

The investigation was initiated by the FIGC in recent months, following a report from the Covisoc – a control body monitoring the clubs’ financial situation – highlighting concerns on “the evaluation of the effects of certain transfers of players’ rights on the balance sheets and the accounting of capital gains”.

Juventus confirmed that the seasons under investigation are those from 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21, while reiterating their trust that they will be proven innocent.
