‘Captain’ Theo Hernandez Revels in Milan Victory at Venezia

Theo Hernandez has turned out to be one of Stefano Pioli ace players, displaying commendable performances week in and week out.

The ex-Real Madrid full-back was brought in personally by the legendary Paolo Maldini in 2019 and he has since excelled on the left flank, most recently scoring two goals and putting in a Man of the Match performance in the 3-0 win against Venezia.

Speaking to DAZN (via MilanNews) after the game, Hernandez reveled in his captaincy and the possibility of a contract extension at San Siro.

He began by crediting coach Pioli for the progress Milan have been making as a team.

“Thanks to the coach. We work every day to recover and move forward, thanks to that we are this Milan,” he said

Milan are one point behind league leaders Inter, who edged Lazio 2-1, having played a game less.

The left-back pointed at the fact the league is more intense this time around, as Napoli and Atalanta are not far behind the Milan giants.

“We work every day, we play game by game and then we see. The league is not easy, we work hard every day.”

Finally, Theo disclosed how happy he is in Rossoneri colors, especially since the captain’s armband was handed over to him only for the second time – for the  Venezia encounter.

He said: “I’m very happy, it’s an honor to have the captain’s armband. I’m working every day to get to the top. We are at a very good point. I have been happy here since day one. We are talking.”

Milan will be hoping to fight until the end for the Scudetto title, in a bid to secure their first title in over a decade.
