Carlo Ancelotti Set His Sights On Kalidou Koulibaly

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti will go all-out for in-demand Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as he looks to revamp his defensive options in the summer. As reported by TUTTOmercatoWEB, the Senegalese centre-back wants a new challenge elsewhere, with the Toffees ready to fulfill his desire.

Koulibaly has recently admitted he is looking to leave Serie A for good, throwing his future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona into a corridor of doubt. The 29-year-old has generated a lot of interest from high-profile clubs over the past couple of years en route to becoming one of the most coveted defenders in Europe’s top-five divisions.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain have all showed intention to capture the former Genk man’s services. However, Goodison Park could be Koulibaly’s next landing spot, as Ancelotti seeks a reunion with his former protégé.

The experienced centre-back enjoyed impressive 18 months under the Italian tactician before the 61-year-old’s dismissal in December 2019. In fact, Aurelio De Laurentiis’ decision to sack Ancelotti and appoint Gennaro Gattuso left a bitter taste in Koulibaly’s mouth.

Devastated by Carletto’s departure, the Senegal international had a bust-up with the Napoli hierarchy, having tried to force his way out of the club. Although De Laurentiis managed to fend off Koulibaly’s suitors on numerous occasions in the past, he now seems open to the prospect of cashing in on his prized asset.

However, Koulibaly has endured a topsy-turvy season, with his market valuation dropping to £35million, compared to a whopping £87m only a couple of years ago.

After taking Allan to Merseyside last summer, Ancelotti is now hopeful of doing the same with the towering defender.

Everton may need to find a replacement for Yerry Mina, who could be on his way to Serie A at the end of the season. Inter Milan and Fiorentina are interested in the Colombian, who offered himself to Italian sides earlier this week.
