Castillejo Bound for Russia, Almost Left for Hertha Berlin

The Cult of Calcio recently reported of Milan’s intention to see off two players in particular – Samu Castillejo and Andrea Conti. The latter’s contract expires in June 2022 as opposed to Castillejo, who believes in a future away from the club – especially after receiving abuse from the fans on his Twitter handle.

It was revealed that he received an offer from Hertha Berlin’s sporting director Fredi Bobic on deadline day, few hours away from the end. Nothing materialized between the parties as the transfer market in Germany climaxed at 6pm, leaving very little time for a deal to finalize.

Before advances from Germany, Getafe and Real Sociedad looked as potential contenders to sign him. However, he is left with very little option now as most of Europe is closing shut.

Thanks to Russian Premier League closing a bit late – on September 7, CSKA Moscow are frontrunners for Castillejo’s signature, as confirmed by MilanNews. The 27-year-old midfielder is bound to move to Moscow, possibly on a loan deal with an option to buy at around €10m.
