Rising Morocco international Walid Cheddira has been the subject of transfer links to Scudetto winners Napoli, thanks to his standout performances in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Bari forward is now not only drawing attention from other clubs in the top flight but also from the Bundesliga and the Premier League.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SassuoloNews), Sassuolo and Salernitana have enquired Bari for information about Cheddira. Yet, Bari’s demands do not look likely to incite a move from either side. Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim have also reportedly asked about, alongside a couple of unnamed teams from the Premier League.
The De Laurentiis family owns both Bari and Napoli, making transfer negotiations easy to execute between the two clubs. The Scudetto winners have succeeded in onboarding Elia Caprile, with negotiations for Cheddira well underway, as once reported.
Cheddira is contracted with Bari until the summer of 2025, and the Puglia-based outfit is expected to demand at least €10M for the versatile forward.
Our Take on the Future of Cheddira
Cheddira is bound to star in a top-tier league for the first time in his career sooner rather than later. Sassuolo seem like an apt destination to up his game, and so do Salernitana. However, both teams already have an overload of strikers in their respective squads. A transfer to Napoli might seem like a dream move for the Moroccan instead.
