The negotiation between Milan and Ismael Bennacer was reportedly at a good point. However, he decided to change his agent, which will reset it. He’s under contract until 2024. A few deep-pocketed sides would be ready to pounce if the talks broke off, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The midfielder fired his long-time representative Moussa Sissoko and appointed Enzo Raiola. He and the club were nearing agreement on €3.3M wages, more than double what he’s currently making. However, the Algerian star wishes to be compensated as much as Theo Hernandez and other linchpins; therefore, €4/4.5M annually.

Director Paolo Maldini and Raiola will meet to discuss the new Bennacer deal later this week. The Rossoneri wish to come to terms sooner rather than later since he’s a key player. Though, it’s unlikely they’ll manage in short order.

The talisman is prioritizing the conversations with his own team, but he’s fascinated by the idea of playing in the Premier League, the transfer market expert adds. Liverpool pursued him in the past, but they have different priorities now. Chelsea and Manchester United would be in the running this time around. The Blues would target somebody like him if Jorginho didn’t re-up, and they could offer €40M in January. The Red Devils already inquired as well.

Our Take on Milan and Bennacer

Switching agents in the middle of a negotiation is never a good sign, especially combining that with hiring somebody with a penchant for rich transfers. As it’s the case for Rafael Leao, the Rossoneri have until the end of the season to come to terms. Even though his price tag might plummet, they need to do whatever they can to keep him, as their midfield wouldn’t sustain any more blows.
