Chelsea Announce Asking Price for Roma Loanee Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku arrived following a loan deal and has already taken strides in the Italian capital with seven goals in his eight opening games, most recently playing a key part in downing Cagliari 4-1. While Chelsea secured approximately €10M in temporary fees, they are in line to make more than €40M when the season ends.

As per latest reports from Italy and England, Chelsea are understood to have struck an agreement regarding the fee they will accept for the Roma forward in the summer of 2024. €42.5M is the transfer cost the Giallorossi will have to bear if they are to sign Lukaku permanently.

His recent performances have mandated an increase in market value, and Chelsea are expected to take full advantage of the Belgian forward’s presence within their loan departure roster. The 30-year-old still has three years left on his Blues contract, but that is strongly expected to come to an end next year.

Nevertheless, the Premier League side are set to suffer a huge loss, having signed him in excess of €100M two years ago. Lukaku spent last year on loan at Inter but left the Nerazzurri on poor terms after a disappointing end to the season.

Our Take on Lukaku and Roma

With his current rise back into goalscoring form, it will not be a surprise to see his value spike even higher if he keeps up. However, the price set by Chelsea is unlikely to waver, given the English outfit are not seeking to hire Lukaku once again.
