With a lengthy second half of the season underway, Chelsea are eager to bolster their squad depth as they monitor Inter’s Croatian wing-back, Ivan Perisic.
According to Sempre Inter (via The Mirror), with the English full-back Ben Chilwell injured for the rest of the season, the Blues are eager to attempt filling the void on the left flank by submitting an intriguing offer to the Nerazzurri for the 32 year-old wing-back.
So far throughout this year’s Serie A campaign, Perisic has played a vital role in helping Inter potentially win the scudetto for a second season in a row. The Nerazzurri wing-back has scored 4 goals and provided one assist for Inter so far this season for the Italian giants.
As it stands, Perisic’s contract is set to expire at the end of this year’s current campaign. Regardless of the fact that Chelsea have an opportunity to sign the 32 year-old on a pre-contract agreement, the Blues of London are desperate to make a transfer offer to Inter that can potentially bring the Croatian international to the Stamford Bridge prior to the closure of the winter transfer window.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, they are entering a competitive race for the signature of Perisic as Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham have also expressed their desire of possibly acquiring the Nerazzurri wing-back. Despite the difficult competition that lies ahead, the club officials are eager to push towards Perisic as they believe he can assist in filling the void within the left-back role through his lung-bursting stamina, his great anticipation of the game, and his fine-tuned dribbling skills on the ball.
