Chelsea Jump Ahead of PSG in Race for Inter Star with Improved Bid

Chelsea currently have more chances to land Achraf Hakimi than PSG. The Nerazzurri are evaluating partial swaps and are high on Marcos Alonso. They like him more than Emerson and Andreas Christensen. They also met with the agent of Davide Zappacosta, who returned to London after a loan at Genoa, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

Chelsea have offered €60M plus the Spanish left-back, while PSG could soon raise their bid to €70M, SportMediaset reports. The Beneamata would like to complete his sale by June 30th for financial purposes. They are trying to cash in as much as they want to lose just one of their linchpins this summer. His agent Alejandro Camano recently stated: “The only one that will maybe leave Inter is Hakimi, who has the chance to move to various European teams. The club told us that they need to sell a player and already picked whom.”

If included in the deal, Alonso would be making a return to Serie A. He played sparingly in the past season, accumulating 17 appearances and hitting the net twice. Chelsea acquired him for €23M from Fiorentina in 2016. He has totaled 24 goals and 17 assists in 168 matches in five years with the Pensioners.

Zappacosta is coming off a bounce-back campaign, as he scored four times and set up two teammates. Inter have also inserted Denzel Dumfries, who is shining in the Euro, in the short-list of possible replacements for Hakimi. They lost some depth on the flank yesterday since Ashley Young turned down a one-year deal and signed with Aston Villa instead.
