Chelsea Keen to Replace Rudiger with Juventus Talent

With Real Madrid beating Juventus and other suitors to the signature of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, the Bianconeri could turn out be the victim of the Blues, as the Londoners seek a replacement for the German centre-back.

Chelsea are eyeing Juventus stopper Matthijs De Ligt, according to latest reports from Calciomercato. The 22-year-old is contracted to a €120m release clause in his Bianconeri contract but it is yet unknown if the Italians are willing to part ways with the big Dutchman, who is touted to succeed club legends Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci in the backline.

Although he possesses a remarkably high release clause, Chelsea are reportedly confident in securing his services for a discounted price as coach Thomas Tuchel is keen on improving his defence in the summer – an interest that has only been reinforced courtesy of Rudiger’s imminent departure in the summer.

Although Chelsea are frontrunners, they will first need to first new owners to finance any upcoming deals considering the fact that the UK government’s sanctions are still in place.

De Ligt is under contract until the summer of 2024, experiencing a rather turbulent three running seasons so far in Turin. He has 113 appearances for the Bianconeri so far.
