Chelsea’s Italian Star Could Have Paired With Sarri at Juventus

UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Jorginho was a real possibility for Juventus to sign, when his ex-Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri was in charge of the Bianconeri – his agent Joao Santos has revealed.

The Champions League and EURO 2020 winner had a stellar season with Chelsea and Italy as won all there is in the year for both teams.

Speaking to Radio Bianconera (via Football Italia), his agent Santos said: “In the past, when Sarri was the coach, there was a possibility that Jorginho would come to Juventus.”

Santos also enunciated his opinion on what the Ballon d’Or may hold for the Italian central midfield ace. Jorginho won more important trophies than any other player on both the club and national level.

“I think Jorginho has a good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or, because we usually think of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but nobody has won as much as Jorginho this year,” he said.

Apparently, it is in the playmaker’s intention to return to Italy, where he first rose to stardom with impressive performances for Napoli.

Santos further commented: “Obviously it would be a dream for him to return to Italy. We’ll have to see what the market looks like in a couple of years and what the other situations are.”

The Chelsea star’s contract with Chelsea expires in June 2023.
