Chiesa and Vlahovic Ruled Out, New Pogba Test Positive

Juventus endured a triple blow on the eve of the Derby, as Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa won’t be available due to small injuries, while the second sample of Paul Pogba tested positive for testosterone as well, thus ending hopes for a quick resolution of his doping case, Sky informs.

The Frenchman will now either ask to be interrogated or submit his defense within the next two to four weeks, while the anti-doping prosecutor will start his probe. The ban could range from one to four years, depending on a possible plea deal and how the trial goes.

Massimiliano Allegri addressed Pogba before announcing that Vlahovic and Chiesa would miss the Derby (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“I’m sorry from a human point of view. We won’t change our scheme without them. We tried some stuff that might be useful during a game or the season in general. Kenan Yildiz is ready, but I’ll evaluate tomorrow who to field. The rest of the team is in good shape.”

The coach explained what the two aces were dealing with.

“Vlahovic is nursing lingering back pain. The tests ruled out lesions, but he’s not comfortable. Chiesa had an MRI due to pain on his thigh, which was negative. It’s persisting, so we talked to him and decided to rule him out since he was a little worried considering his injury history. I want healthy players out there, not 50 and 50 ones. We’re sorry, but we have three important options.”
