Chiesa Not in a Rush to Decide on His Juventus Future

Juventus have put Federico Chiesa on sale amid challenging extension talks, but the players isn’t necessarily chomping at the bit to depart. The Bianconeri had intense talks with Roma, but he’s taking his time before choosing, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The winger wants to be part of the pre-season retreat and start working under Thiago Motta first. He’ll report back late as all the footballers who participated in Euro 2024.

Chiesa hasn’t ruled out staying at Juventus without renewing his contract, which expires in 2025. Given the gulf between the offer and the demand, the Old Lady hasn’t formally offered him a renewal. If the management indeed pushes him out, he’ll evaluate his options.

Only Roma have moved tangibly to sign him so far. Besides the economic aspects, he might be keener on transferring aboard. The brass wouldn’t mind some extra cash pronto to improve their offer for Teun Koopmeiners. In the meantime, Leicester City came forward with a €25M bid for Matias Soulé, but his price tag is higher.

Our Take on Juventus and Chiesa

It’s a tricky spot for the Bianconeri, as it’d be a black eye if they lost him for nothing, which is where things would be headed if he remained in Turin without a new deal. The chatter about him not being part of Motta’s plans is grossly exaggerated, as the root of the problem is economic. They’d make it work on the pitch if he stayed. The club has started being very strict on wages, so he must be asking for a disproportionate figure for things to have turned this sour.
