Cold Water Poured on Manchester United Buzz for Min-jae

South Korea talent Kim Min-jae looks almost sure to leave Napoli after a career-changing season in the south of Italy where he helped Naples earn its first Scudetto title in 33 years. The ex-Fenerbahce defender has been absolutely instrumental for Luciano Spalletti all season, but it looks like the Partenopei will be helpless when it comes to his stance in the transfer market.

With reports blowing out of the blue regarding a potential deal with Manchester United, the player’s representatives have emerged to dampen them. Speaking to South Korean publication Star News Korea (via Calciomercato), his entourage shrugged the chatter of a move to the Red Devils in the summer.

“The transfer to Manchester United is not true. Currently, Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season. In the case of the English teams, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to hurry for the future.”

Min-jae is due to be enlisted in the South Korean army come June to carry out his compulsory military service. July remains the only month when he can move, as suitors will prepare to activate his bare minimum release clause of €45M, which is applicable only in the first two weeks of the month.
