Newly-promoted Serie A outfit Como could be one of the protagonists of the summer transfer window. According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, outgoing Manchester United superstar Raphael Varane will touch down in Italy next week to negotiate a shock move to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
After completing the signings of Andrea Belotti and Gabriel Strefezza, Como have inquired about Juventus outcast Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, who could be available for a reported fee of €10 million. However, Cesc Fabregas’ men are reluctant to hit the brakes there as they seek another high-profile acquisition.
It’s no other than Varane. Still only 31 years old, Varane swapped Real Madrid for Manchester United in the summer of 2021 for €40m. His contract at Old Trafford runs out on June 30, with the Red Devils refusing to offer him a new deal. Aware of the situation, Como are ready to pounce.
