Como Edging Closer to Signing Spanish Goalkeeper

Serie A newcomers go full steam ahead to assemble a squad capable of navigating the upcoming top-flight challenges. According to Foot Mercato, the Italians have shaken hands with Olympique Marseille for experienced goalkeeper Pau Lopez to land at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
It’s been a busy start to the summer for Como. After capturing the services of Gabriel Strefezza and Andrea Belotti, they’re intensifying their audacious attempt to lure Raphael Varane to Italy. As if that’s not ambitious enough, they’ve recently enquired about ex-Villarreal full-back Alberto Moreno.
On the other hand, Lopez has been on their radar since the start of the summer. After weeks of negotiations, Como and Marseille have found an agreement. The 29-year-old will join Cesc Fabregas’ team on loan with an option to buy. But the Lariani must wait a while longer before announcing the Spaniard’s return to Serie A.
Before letting Lopez link up with Como, Marseille want to ensure they have a replacement in place, with Las Palmas’ Alaro Valles identified as a perfect alternative. Talks between the clubs are underway after the French side lodged a €10 million offer for the 26-year-old stopper.
Lopez, if signed, would likely be a first-choice keeper for Como next season. He’s no stranger to Serie A, having played for Roma between 2019 and 2021. With Como likely to battle tooth and nail to avoid relegation, having a keeper of Lopez’s quality and experience could prove decisive.
