Conceiçao Picks Up Injury, Juventus to Negotiate Again

Francisco Conceiçao had a promising debut with Juventus coming off the bench against Roma. However, he’ll miss time after the break due to a strain of the left peroneal muscles that could sideline him for three-to-four weeks. Despite the formula used to bring him in last summer, the Bianconeri fully intend to have him in their squad for a few years, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

They couldn’t agree to his price tag with Porto and settled for a one-year, €7M loan with no option to buy. They’ll spend the coming months trying to find common ground on his valuation. The sellers will lean on his future €30M release clause, but the Old Lady will attempt to acquire him at different conditions.

Juventus could start with a €15M offer for Conceiçao, maybe with €2/3M add-ons. Porto wanted to cash in at least €25M and didn’t waver. They signed off on the temporary departure of the winger because he no longer wanted to stay following his father’s exit.

The two teams stayed in touch in recent days to negotiate the loan of Tiago Djaló, who could be a factor in the future deal if he plays well.

Our Take on Juventus and Conceiçao

Considering how much they’re spending to have him this season, they must buy him outright one way or the other or it’ll be a waste of money. On the other hand, they’ll have plenty of time to evaluate him, and their recent deals indicate that they are prone to long and exhausting talks to get the job done if they really want to.
