Conte Hopes for a Call from Milan amid Napoli Courtship

Napoli are trying to persuade Antonio Conte, but missing out on the Champions League, which is increasingly likely, makes it hard to invest so much in a coach, plus, he sees them as a fallback, as Milan would be his top preference, Sportitalia’s Michele Criscitiello informs.

The former Italy gaffer demands €9/10M per year. The alternatives, starting with Vincenzo Italiano, would be a lot less expensive. The Partenopei are willing to wait for his decision. He’s eager to resume coaching after a sabbatical. He might ultimately give in if there’s no alternative. They will hire director Giovanni Manna, and Fabio Paratici might join them as well after his suspension ends.

Conte has his eyes set on Milan, as he likes the squad and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but, unlike Napoli, they aren’t a lock to change their coach. Their brass would prefer to continue with Stefano Pioli. He’ll need to finish the season well, or it’d be hard to argue in his favor.

Conversely, the Partenopei would take a hard look at the Rossoneri gaffer if he became available, Corriere dello Sport informed. They also have Gian Piero Gasperini on their shortlist should he ever decide to leave Atalanta.

On top of potentially facing competition from Milan for Conte, Napoli don’t have Italiano in the bag either. Tuttomercatoweb informed that Bologna would be serious contenders if Thiago Motta jumped ship. He’s in the lead over Monza’s Raffaele Palladino and former Sassuolo manager Alessio Dionisi to succeed him.
