Conte Refuses to Comment on Steven Zhang Impending Return to Italy

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte maintains he only thinks of the upcoming Serie A fixture against Hellas Verona. Quizzed on president Steven Zhang’s impending return to Italy by FCInterNews, the experienced manager refused to share his opinion on the matter.

Speculations about the Nerazzurri facing financial turmoil as a result of the coronavirus pandemic have been shaking the club over the past couple of months.

With Zhang stuck in his native China since the turn of the year, vultures have been scouring the Giuseppe Meazza, looking to take advantage of Inter’s economic uncertainty. After seeing the restrictions on traveling to Italy lifted, Zhang is on his way to Milan and should arrive by the end of the week.

The president has reportedly obtained much-needed investments and is now headed to the country to solve some burning issues within the club. However, Conte has no interest in commenting on Zhang’s highly anticipated return, as he looks to guide his side back to winning ways in Serie A.

I’m not interested in going into this subject before the game,” the former Juventus boss said.

I don’t like to answer, I think it’s only right to concentrate on the game, we’re playing for the work of two years. I know that you need news, but there is time for it,” Conte replied when asked about Zhang’s impact.

After playing out identical 1-1 draws with Napoli and Spezia, Inter are desperate to get back to winning ways. Despite their recent dip in form, the Nerazzurri are still ten points clear of closes chasers AC Milan, with just six league games left to play.

The Lombardian giants are overwhelming favorites to beat Verona on Sunday, having won all but one of their previous ten Serie A meetings at home, including the last there in a row.
