CR7 Jersey For Sale: Demiral Rallies Aid for Turkey and Syria Victims

With Turkey and Syria battling with the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the two nations, help has not stopped pouring in to assist the two countries in a bid to save as many lives as possible. Turkish Serie A star Merih Demiral has come forward with the initiative to raise funds for his nation and Syria.

The Atalanta center-back has decided to auction a signed Cristiano Ronaldo jersey to help finance and ease the struggle following the natural disaster.

In a Twitter post, he disclosed that he conversed with the Al-Nasr striker and pledged all proceeds from the auction to be used in the earthquake zone. Demiral and Ronaldo were teammates at Juventus for two years, before they parted ways to Atalanta and Manchester United respectively.

Moreover, he revealed Roma playmaker Paulo Dybala is also onboard the rescue wagon.

“I just spoke to my brother Dybala. He expressed his pain on behalf of the Argentine people and said he is with us. He also auctioned off his shirt and invited donations to AhBap.” (via VoceGiallorossa)

AhBap is the Turkish Network of Voluntary Helpers.

The earthquake is the strongest experienced in the region in over five centuries. As many as 8,000 losses have already been confirmed, and hundreds of thousands already displaced due to the infrastructural damage. As per World Health Organization, around 33 million people are expected to be affected by the quake.
