Cremonese vs Roma 2-1: Mourinho Sees Red, La Cremo Find Maiden Win

Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands as he watched his Roma side suffer a 2-1 defeat away to Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini. The hosts were able to record their first victory of the season thanks to goals from Frank Tsadjout and Daniel Ciofani, despite Leandro Spinazzola levelling the scores earlier on for the Giallorossi

Tsadjout Wonder Strike

It was the underdogs who took the lead here in Cremona through Tsadjout. Marco Benassi had found Emanuele Valeri with a pass, before the wing-back touched it down for Tsadjout with a lovely bit of link-up play. The 23-year-old forward then shot the ball home with an excellent strike, curling the ball away from ‘keeper Rui Patricio into the top left corner.

Roma struggled to create much in the first half, with Georginio Wijnaldum having the visitors’ best chance of the match early on, however, he dragged his shot wide. Paulo Dybala offered some nice touches here and there but ultimately failed to impact the game. Cremonese looked sharper and hungrier for the victory.

Mourinho Sees Red

Jose Mourinho would let his emotions get the better of him once more after referee Marco Piccinini sent him to the stands for flaring up on the touchline following a challenge on Marash Kumbulla shortly after the interval. The Giallorossi would have to find a way back into the match without their head coach.

A quadruple change for the away side would come shortly after the hour mark in an attempt to change Roma’s fortunes. They were able to start imposing themself on the game from there on in and Leandro Spinazzola found the equaliser with around 20 minutes to go.

The wing-back had made an excellent run in behind the Cremonese defense before taking the ball down excellently and finishing low into the corner. Gianluca Mancini had found his teammate with a fine ball over the top.

Late Penalty Secures Historic Three Points

Despite Roma fighting their way back into the match, they conceded a penalty with around ten minutes to go as Cremonese fought back. Piccinini awarded the spot kick after Patricio brought down David Okereke in the box. Daniel Ciofani made no mistake, converting with a fine penalty to put La Cremo ahead once more.

Mourinho had seen enough with six minutes of injury time to play, with the 60-year-old heading back into the dressing room after a poor display from his team. Cremonese would secure their first three points of the season and their first win in Serie A in almost 27 years.
