Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering suing his former club, Juventus, for unpaid wages during the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 38-year-old has decided to take the matter to court, even though it’s been over two years since he left Turin.
Ronaldo spent three years at Juventus. Between 2018 and 2021, he won back-to-back Serie A titles and three more domestic trophies. However, after failing to inspire the club to Champions League glory, he left the Allianz Stadium in 2021 to return to his former club Manchester United.
But he seems to haven’t forgotten the payments Juventus refused to process during the pandemic. In an effort to save funds in those tumultuous times, the record-time Italian champions failed to pay the Portugal captain around €19.9 million.
After seeing a point reduction in the 2022/23 Serie A season and subsequently being banned from European competitions by UEFA for a year, this is the last thing Juventus needed. Bianconeri are still trying to recover from a massive off-field turmoil toward the end of last season.
However, Ronaldo has already spoken to the Turin Prosecutor’s Office about the situation. Paulo Dybala also contemplated the prospect of taking Juventus to the court of law. Luckily for Massimiliano Allegri’s side, they settled before the Argentine decided to act on his idea.
