Cristiano Ronaldo Would Leave Juventus Only Under One Condition

Jorge Mendes, the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, was spotted in Milan yesterday to discuss with few Italian clubs. He has not met with Juventus because the operation to move the striker has not been set in motion yet. His mammoth salary represents a significant obstacle for the suitors, and so far, he has not signaled to be willing to take a pay cut, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. He will not depart unless he is offered the same wages.

Ronaldo currently makes €31M per year, which could be hard to match in the post-pandemic scenario even for PSG and Manchester United, the two most likely destinations. Juventus are not pushing for his exit and he is not too eager to bolt. They would reportedly pursue swaps with either Mauro Icardi or Paul Pogba if the Portuguese ace were to transfer to one of those two teams.

Whatever the decision will be, it will come after the end of the Euro, and there have been no real talks thus far. Real Madrid took themselves out of the running a couple of months ago. It remains to be seen whether the return of Carlo Ancelotti, who has a strong rapport with Ronaldo, and the difficulties in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappé could make them reconsider a reunion.

Mendes had summits with Fiorentina, Milan, and Monza yesterday. The Viola are negotiating with Porto for the acquisition of standout midfielder Sergio Oliveira. While they are close, they have not met the asking price yet. The Rossoneri instead assessed the future plans for Rafael Leao with his agent.
