David Coy About His Future amid Premier League Links

Inter and Juventus are among the early suitors for Jonathan David, but they’ll face plenty of competition. Plus, there’s still a chance he’ll end up signing a renewal. The star striker spoke with The Athletic about the past window and his future plans.

“I’ve received a few offers, but nothing got finalized. I’ve talked with the team and the coach, and we all decided that I’d stay. Anything can happen now. I’m in the final year of my contract, so let’s see what will occur at the end of the season.”

David is keeping his choice close to the vest.

“I’m open to everything and I’m not eyeing just that the Premier League. Every championship is enthralling. The president and I are discussing a possible extension. We’ll see how those talks unfold.”

According to Calciomercato, Chelsea, West Ham, and Manchester United inquired about David in the summer. He also had preliminary discussions with Roma after they decided not to try to bring Romelu Lukaku back. However, the negotiation didn’t advance as Daniele De Rossi preferred a different type of strike. The Giallorossi eventually snapped up Artem Dovbyk.

Our Take on David

The Serie A suitors will have to be timely and determined because, the closer it gets to January, when he’ll technically be already able to sign a pre-contract for his new side, the more suitors will line up. A few of them, perhaps with lower prestige, will lodge higher bids salary-wise. The technical projects might make all the difference, but some difficult dominos would have to take shape for him to have a primary role at either Juventus or Inter.
