De Ketelaere Seemingly Inching Closer to Milan Switch

Charles De Ketelaere did not play a single minute in Sunday’s Belgian Super Cup against Gent, further fueling speculations of an imminent transfer to Milan. The player went on to start some chants and salute the fans with a megaphone after the game in what looked like a farewell.

As per Calciomercato, the Rossoneri will further raise their bid this week. The new offer should amount to €30M plus add-ons. The total package will be worth around €35M, very close to Club Brugge’s requests.

De Ketelaere dropped a hint about Milan in an interview with Eleven Sport, although there are conflicting reports about when it was actually filmed.

“I do not feel fulfilled yet, even though I have played against Lionel Messi and alongside Kevin De Bruyne. It is not enough. It is tough to explain my bond with this side. I have been here since I was a kid and I love this place. It will always be my team, but I had to overcome the fan’s mentality when I started playing professionally.”

“My teammates like to call me ‘golden boy’ but I do not want to get a big head. The pressure I put on myself is bigger than that coming from the other people. I am curious to see what the future holds. I will listen to the offers. The thought of leaving Club Brugge used to scare me, but that is no longer the case. I would be ready if a solid bid came.”

Our Take on Milan Accelerating for De Ketelaere

The negotiation might go on a little longer, but the deal is bound to happen and it will be one of the best ones of the summer, as an upgrade in such role was the top priority for the Rossoneri.
