De Laurentiis Discusses Giuntoli, Osimhen, and More

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis touched on a few matters while unveiling the new kits. He lambasted Cristiano Giuntoli after he professed his Juventus fandom (via Corriere del Mezzogiorno)

“I didn’t expect it at all. It blindsided me. If I had noticed it beforehand, I would have gotten rid of him earlier.”

The chairman was asked whether Victor Osimhen would stay.

“Absolutely yes. I’ve already said that. Then, if an offer that’s more than indecent arrives, we’ll come to grips with that. We’ll unearth new players in the same way we did with him, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and a few others.”

De Laurentiis dished on those with just a year on his contract, like Piotr Zielinski and Hirving Lozano.

“We are aware to have some that are nearing the end of their journey. I have to decide whether to bring them to the pre-season retreat to train, or exclude them and send them elsewhere. They are youngsters at the mercy of ravenous agents that don’t understand through their activity, which I consider stupid and ineffective, to have met their match.”

“I don’t need anybody. I can afford to pay them just to freeze them out. Then their stocks would plummet due to a year on the sidelines, and I doubt ambitious clubs like ours would pursue them.”
