Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is still in limbo, with his reported move to lead operations at Juventus taking a huge hit on account of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis unwilling to release him.
Giuntoli sees his Napoli deal expire only at the end of next season, and is contractually obliged to stick with the Partenopei. Given the scenario, his fate ultimately lies at the hands of De Laurentiis, who has no intention of releasing him to the Bianconeri – Napoli’s unpopular rivals – according to Corriere dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli).
Expected a meeting in the next days between Cristiano #Giuntoli and Aurelio #DeLaurentiis to try to reach an agreement for the termination of the contract, which expires in 2024. The sports director considers his era at #Napoli over. #Juventus are waiting for him… #transfers https://t.co/bOK7dq6zNX

De Laurentiis is busy negotiating potential deals for Luciano Spalletti’s successor next season, with Sergio Conceiçao now leading the pack, after Luis Enrique’s future was deemed to lie elsewhere. With the season coming to a close on the weekend, as Napoli play Sampdoria, concrete talks are expected to be held next week onwards between Giuntolii and De Laurentiis to settle the confusion once and for all.
And if the duo do not arrive at a solution, then Giuntoli might have to part ways on a sour note: with a resignation, similar to the move executed by Spalletti.
