De Vrij Widely Expected to Extend Contract with Inter

After mulling the proposal for a few months, Stefan De Vrij has decided to renew his expiring contract and stay at Inter. The parties should meet to formalize the agreement relatively soon. The Dutchman probed about the possibility of moving to the Premier League, but the offers he received weren’t too enticing.

Per Sky, the center-back will keep the same €4M wages he has today. He should ink a two-year deal, even though he initially requested a longer one. After being part of the Mino Raiola agency, he hired Federico Pastorello as his agent rather than sticking with Rafaela Pimenta. He’s comfortable in Milan and doesn’t want to move, also because he’s about to welcome his first child.

Inter take a step toward building next season’s defense by locking down De Vrij, but there’s still plenty of uncertainty. According to DAZN, the Nerazzurri will soon open talks with Lazio to negotiate the option to redeem Francesco Acerbi. They considered the present €4M one excessive.

Milan Skriniar will join PSG, and they are searching for one of two replacements. They are bargaining with Alessandro Bastoni, whose contract is up in 2024, to avoid the same situation in the future. The conclusion of the negotiation isn’t near, even though there’s optimism.

Our Take on Inter and De Vrij

It’s better to keep your own than to try luring somebody from outside for teams that don’t have a lot of resources, even though the Dutchman has been far from impressive this campaign and supplanted by Acerbi for good reasons. He’s declining a bit, but they couldn’t go into the summer having to find three or four center-backs.
