Del Piero Carefully Skirts Questions on Juventus Return

Alessandro Del Piero dished on vast football-related topics but dribbled past the queries about his potential Juventus future in an interview with Corriere della Sera. He has been recently tipped to accept a managerial position in Saudi Arabia.

“The Bianconeri are always under intense pressure. They are a reference point not just for their own fans. Everybody seeks news about them right after learning about their favorite team, hoping for the best or the worst. It’s a central club in the history of Italian football.”

“When you face that kind of responsibility and have to deal with moments of change, generational passages, and the conclusion of fortunate cycles, it’s obvious that not everything can go in the right direction. They are in a transitional phase. I wish the choices they made were correct since we hope to see them compete in Italy and Europe.”

Del Piero played coy about whether he’d come back.

“Considering my journey and all the years and joys we shared even in the darkest times in Serie B, we built a special relationship. Nineteen are really many. People ask me about my return, but I reply that I don’t need to do that because, in reality, I never left. My roots are deep. I don’t work there currently. Maybe that’ll change in the future, who knows? But I’ll never feel distant because I left a piece of my heart there, and that will last forever.”
