Del Piero Lauds Bellingham After MOTM Display vs Napoli

Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero has heaped praise on Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham for his impact in the Spanish capital. The English midfielder played a pivotal role in the 3-2 UEFA Champions League win over Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, and Del Piero was full of praise.

Del Piero spoke to Sky Italia (via Tuttomercatoweb) and took stock of Bellingham’s presence in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup.

“Bellingham is physically strong, good with his feet, has a great personality and also scores goals. Call him whatever name you want, but he’s really strong and he is in all areas of the pitch, with or without the ball.”

The Los Blancos’ star summer signing executed a brilliant solo effort against Napoli for his side’s second, as Del Piero drew comparisons with the now-departed Karim Benzema.

“His channel runs are always dangerous. For someone so young to join Real Madrid with this personality is something not to be underestimated. Congratulations to him and also to Ancelotti, who was good at immediately managing him in the best possible way. He is not Benzema’s replacement, but he has replaced Benzema to date. Real Madrid without the Frenchman uses Bellingham’s cuts to hurt the opposing defenses.”

Bellingham has eight goals and three assists in nine appearances for Real Madrid, making himself the club’s most impactful signing since Cristiano Ronaldo. Napoli remain winless against Los Blancos in all five of their European encounters.
