Del Piero Mum on Juventus Return, Slams Sports Justice

Fresh off a trip to Turin, Alessandro Del Piero commented on the rumors about his return to Juventus and the point deduction during the show CBS Sports Golazo (via Mediaset).

“I was a fan before playing for the Bianconeri and spent 19 years at the club. I experienced the 2006 crisis, and I’m aware that rebuilding a team takes a long time. You miss out on many opportunities if you don’t compete in the Champions League. It took a few years to win a trophy, but I never regretted that choice, since it was my decision.”

“There’s a lot of buzz, but I don’t want to say yes or no at this stage. I’m not ready to provide an answer because it’s a huge thing. My heart is still there, obviously. I always look at what’s happening to Juventus under a different lens, trying to keep emotions out of it, but it’s complicated.”

Del Piero believe the Old Lady could win its upcoming appeal.

“There’s a chance they get 15 points back. Everybody hates them in Italy, that’s the first thing to know to better understand the situation. In addition, this wouldn’t be the right time for a ruling as the season is ongoing. That’s my gripe. You should move on, do what you have to do, and, if somebody made mistakes, punish them ahead of the next campaign.”

“Deducting 15 points, and then maybe giving 10 back, or who knows, doesn’t work for the other teams either. They would be in second place if they prevailed. It’s a rollercoaster. That’s why I think Massimiliano Allegri and the squad are doing something very important.”
