Details of Double Deal Between Tottenham and Juventus Emerge

Juventus sent Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham shortly after signing Dusan Vlahovic. The Spurs could pay up to €70M for the duo, but it is not a straightforward deal. Director Fabio Paratici and his former right-hand man Federico Cherubini arranged rather complex formulas, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The Uruguayan midfielder transferred for a €19M fee, plus €6M add-ons. €3M are tied to his appearances and are easy to achieve. The rest depends on his team’s Champions League qualification and on whether he starts at least 50 percent of the matches throughout his three-and-a-half-year contract.

The package for Kulusevski is more intricate. Tottenham will give Juventus €3M for this season’s loan and €7M more for 2022-2023. The Spurs have a €35M conditioned obligation to acquire him permanently. It would be automatically triggered if they finished in the top four in the next two campaigns and on him being in the XI and featuring for at least 45 minutes in half of the games in such span.

The Bianconeri will cash in at least €29M, while the remaining sum is up in the air. Juventus will be hoping Tottenham come out on top in the tight Champions League race. The Lilywhites also hold a €35M option to buy the Swedish starlet in any case. In the past, he picked Juventus over Antonio Conte’s Inter because he thought he did not fit in his 3-5-2 scheme, Calciomercato.it reported. However, he often ended up featuring as a second striker during his time in Turin.
