Di Lorenzo Linked with Improbable Transfer to Milan

Giovanni Di Lorenzo might be headed for a busy summer as his bond with Napoli is deteriorating, and Milan are waiting in the wings in case he becomes available. The possibility would gain steam especially if the Rossoneri hired Antonio Conte, TeleLombardia informs (via Calciomercato).

The captain is under contract with the Azzurri until 2028. He’s the third highest-paid player in the squad with €3M wages. Only Victor Osimhen (€10M), Stanislav Lobotka, and Piotr Zielinski (€3.5M) earn more. He has raked up 215 appearances since 2019.

Milan and other potential suitors would have to shell out €25/30M to sign Di Lorenzo. The Partenopei don’t see any particular issues on this front.

His agent Mario Giuffredi sounded off in a recent interview with Radio CRC (via OneFootball).

“Criticizing is normal, but people have a short memory. In the last few years, I don’t recall him ever flunking a game. He has been one of the best fullbacks in the world. His season might not be superb, but it’s not insufficient either. The campaign has been subpar for the whole team. The situation doesn’t hinge on a single player.”

“We’ll take stock in June and make our evaluations keeping this in mind. It’s only fair for us to acknowledge the current state of things and draw a conclusion.”

Our Take on Di Lorenzo, Milan, and Napoli

A transfer due to a lack of gratitude and excessive criticism from the fan base would be a first. The Rossoneri won’t spend big for a veteran, even a good one.
