Dionisi Hopeful Berardi Comes Back in Roma Fixture

Sassuolo will look to bounce back in the midweek round versus Roma following an ugly loss against Empoli. Coach Alessio Dionisi wishes to get a boost from a couple of returns. Armand Laurienté is back from a suspension, while Domenico Berardi is nearing full health after a second thigh injury in a row.

The gaffer previewed the game (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“We need a reaction. We had a subpar match last week, but we couldn’t get a better opportunity to atone for it. They are a wounded team like us. We are aware they will create some difficulties, but we have to prove that it was just a blip that angered us.”

“The Giallorossi are strong and have a few physical players. They had to deal with Europa League but they were built for that. I don’t think we have any advantages in that respect. They will have the right approach, but we will be ready.”

Dionisi was quizzed about the health of their star winger ahead of Sassuolo-Roma.

“He’s feeling better, but I can’t be totally certain yet. There’s a practice session and a half left, and we are making our evaluations.”

The gaffer looked back at what went wrong versus Empoli.

“I take on the responsibility because that’s fair. We didn’t arrive to it in the best shape given the absences. We are working to make up for those. Our goal has to be to avoid missteps. They happened last season too. We had one in Coppa Italia as well. We weren’t clinical and determined in both boxes, which are the key areas. But we don’t have to be overly dramatic about it. We have to prove we can measure up with what we achieved in 2021/2022.”
