Dionisi Terms Inter Victory as Best Match Since Taking Over

Sassuolo manager Alessio Dionisi has termed the 2-1 victory over Inter as the best match in his three-year Neroverdi tenure so far. Sassuolo emerged from the traps in the second period after having gone a goal down, with Nedim Bajrami and Domenico Berardo changing the course of the game with back-to-back strikes.

Dionisi stressed in his post-match press conference (via Tuttomercatoweb) of how the Neroverdi have grown through the years, with the win at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza the takeaway victory.

“In our third year, we are a big little family. As for today’s performance, I put this one in first place among all the matches played: Inter are really strong, we have faced a few more but I don’t see stronger ones in Serie A. Today is the most important performance we’ve had since I’ve been here.”

The Sassuolo tactician pointed to two aspects he believes are obligatory for further growth.

“I say two words: humility and ambition. We have personality, ambition leads you to never be satisfied. The risk is having a full belly, if we are more ambitious than what we have shown so far, we will be able to have few regrets in the future. The humility is there is our individuals. It’s not good when we put it aside in some matches.”

The Nerazzurri tasted their first defeat of the season, as they failed to maintain their 100% win record, and now sit level on 15 points with second-placed Milan. Meanwhile, the Neroverdi jump into the top half of the Serie A table, having won three and lost as many to start their season.
