Bologna and Toulouse have found an instant agreement for Thijs Dallinga to switch from Ligue 1 to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Vincenzo Italiano’s side will splash out €15 million plus bonuses to sign the 24-year-old center-forward.
Dallinga will replace Joshua Zirkzee, who joined Manchester United in a mega-money deal earlier in July. Bologna made a hefty profit from the Dutchman’s move to Old Trafford and will reinvest a portion of that fee to lure Zirkzee’s countryman to Emilia-Romagna.
Though Dallinga has been a crucial player for Toulouse in the past couple of seasons, the club didn’t have to think twice before accepting Rossoblu’s proposal. The French minnows paid Excelsior around €2.5m in the summer of 2022 to sign the Dutch striker.
He has racked up 37 goals across 86 appearances for Toulouse in the last two years. Dallinga was particularly prolific in 2023/24. He tallied 19 goals in 44 matches across all competitions, even though his club fought tooth and nail to avoid relegation until the season finale.
Bologna accelerated their pursuit of Dallinga on Saturday, and they’ve received Toulouse’s approval in a heartbeat. With Italiano’s team bracing up for a historic Champions League season, the Dutch marksman could be a valuable addition to last term’s Serie A surprise package.
However, Saturday wasn’t all rosy for Bologna fans by any stretch of the imagination. Despite brokering Dallinga’s arrival, Italiano’s side reluctantly agreed to sell their star defender Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal.
