Donnarumma Explains Why He Left Milan to Move to PSG

Gianluigi Donnarumma opened up about his choice to join PSG: “My eight years at Milan were great, I felt at home there, and I experienced some great moments. I am still passionate about them, and I have great respect for the people that work there and the fans. However, life is made of choices, and we had different ambitions. I needed to transfer to grow, improve and become stronger. I felt the urge of a change of scenery. When I decided to leave the Rossoneri, I did not have an agreement in place with any other team.”

Donnarumma gave an interview to Corriere dello Sport. He weighed on Lionel Messi: “It was amazing, a true coup. When they said he was leaving Barcelona, I could not imagine I would be playing with him. This team is full of prodigies. I have seen him in practice, and I guess he is pretty good. He has a decent left foot, but he should improve with the right one,” he joked.

On the team’s goals: “They did not win Ligue 1 last season, but our true objective is to take home the Champions League.”

Donnarumma dished on the successful Euro: “They were 50 fantastic days from the start to the Wembley final. I miss those guys and moments. It was the result of the work of Roberto Mancini, who is an incredible coach, and of a group that truly enjoyed spending time together. There was no heaviness or boredom whatsoever. We were tight and played every game like it was the last one.”
