Donnarumma Scoffs at Trolls after “Dream” Champions League Debut

Gianluigi Donnarumma got the start and kept a clean sheet in the most important match of the season so far. The goalkeeper has been the subject of criticism and mockery online, especially coming from Milan fans, for being mostly relegated to the bench in the early going.

He addressed the snide remarks in the post-game interview with Sky Sport: “I see a ton of them anytime I open my phone. They make me laugh. I ignore them because I know my value and who I am, and I have no issue with that. I am glad to have joined PSG. The club has always been very supportive, and that stuff is all nonsense. I am fine, and I carry on.”

Donnarumma made his Champions League debut against Manchester City: “I dreamed of a night like this, and I finally achieved it. It was a great game and an immense joy. I thank everybody that stayed close to me over the years, especially my parents and my girlfriend. The last few months have not been easy, but I got through them because I have an incredible family. I was serene because I knew this moment would eventually happen, and I will enjoy it with them now.”

Donnarumma commented on his team’s performance: “It is fantastic to play with these many champions. They help you a lot and make you grow. I wish to congratulate Lionel Messi on his first goal with us. We all know what kind of star he is.”
