Donnarumma Unhappy with Role at PSG, Juventus Monitoring Situation

Gianluigi Donnarumma did not get off to a great start at PSG. Despite the stellar Euro and the lucrative five-year contract, the goalkeeper has started just twice in the first nine matches. Instead, Keylor Navas has had more regularity.

According to Corriere della Sera, Donnarumma is rather displeased with the situation. He expected to have competition, but he did not anticipate he would play this little. He has already voiced his malcontent to some friends and former teammates. After being named the best player of the continental competition, he thought he would have a more prominent role.

Donnarumma got the nod twice in a row versus Clermont and Lyon, but then Navas returned between the sticks afterward. The situation has caught off guard also his agent Mino Raiola, who stated in a recent interview: “There is no competition, Gigio will play.” Navas could continue to have the upper hand also thanks to the South American connection with the rest of the team, Tuttomercatoweb suggests. Mauricio Pochettino is still looking to find the right balance in the locker room.

If things did not change, there could be room for stunning developments in the future. The poor start by Wojciech Szczesny is making Juventus reconsider their decision to stick with him in the summer. If there were an opening for Donnarumma, the Bianconeri would be first in line to try signing him in 2022. They heavily pursued him once before he left Milan. However, the ousting of Diego Paratici and the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri changed the scenario.
