Dovbyk the Lone Bright Spot in the Roma Attack So Far

Artem Dovbyk has gotten going after sputtering in his first few matches, but the production of the Roma frontline is still an issue, as he’s the only one who’s been putting the ball in the back of the net. The Giallorossi had higher ambitions after spending lavishly in the summer. Instead, they are 9th on the table and have prevailed just twice across all competitions, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The capital club has bagged just nine total goals in as many fixtures. Their lone thoroughly convincing display has come versus Udinese in Ivan Juric’s debut, where they brushed off the opponents with a three-nil result.

Dovbyk needed three matches to net his maiden Roma goal and hasn’t stopped since, recording four in the last six tilts. On the other hand, Paulo Dybala has hit the net once amid some injury concerns and after the Saudi Arabia saga that affected him in the early going.

Stephan El Shaarawy and especially Matias Soulé, their other crown jewel of the summer, have yet to crack the stat sheet, like Lorenzo Pellegrini. Eldor Shomurodov, Tommaso Baldanzi, Niccolò Pisilli, and Bryan Cristante have been their other scorers so far.

Our Take on Roma and Dovbyk

Their design caters to the center-forward, but no team can be efficient with just one man contributing. If they stick with Ivan Juric, which isn’t so sure, they need a lot more from the two attacking midfielders and the flanks. They have room to grow in the first roles, while, other than El Shaarawy, their wingbacks don’t have the right characteristics to be threats in the final third.
