Florin Manea, who represents Radu Dragusin, who left Genoa to move to Tottenham in January, detailed why his client decided to depart Serie A speaking with Radio CRC (via Il Mattino).
“Aurelio De Laurentiis was ready to seal the deal. Napoli’s offer was equivalent to the others, but it wasn’t just a matter of money. If that were the case, he would have joined Bayern Munich, who lodged the largest bid. He felt it was the right path for him and opted to transfer to the Spurs.”
“Milan also showed interest. He was criticized by the Genoa fans, so it was tough to accept to stay in Italy, but you can’t say no to important teams like the Rossoneri and the Partenopei. Without proposals from abroad, we would have probably go to another Serie A side.”
Juventus gave up on Dragusin a couple of years ago.
“We don’t know why. We didn’t think he could grow so rapidly. He’s very intelligent and self-critical. He calls me after every game to discuss his performance and asks me to be sincere. Nobody saw this coming.”
Unlike other agents, Manea had a positive interaction with De Laurentiis.
“He left me a good impression and was very kind. Diego Armando Maradona is my idol, and I carry Napoli in my heart. I hope to do business with them in the future. They made a solid bid. Signing Dragusin would have been a coup, probably the only really viable one for them in the back.”
