Radu Dragusin has been linked to Juventus and Napoli, which are both seeking a defender, but he won’t leave Tottenham midseason despite his limited playing time. His agent Florin Manea clarified his situation to TeleCapri.
“It’s an honor for him to be pursued by teams of that caliber, but they are just rumors at this stage. We’re focused on Tottenham. He has five more years on his contract. It’s not easy to join a top club and be a regular right away. He’s only 22. If he’ll never play this year, then we’ll naturally make different valuations. He won’t transfer in January, while we’ll assess things later on for June.”
The Romanian international has started in four of the past five Tottenham matches due to Micky van de Ven’s injury. Per Tuttomercatoweb, while Juventus and Napoli inquired about Dragusin, he would have been a difficult target even if he wanted to leave.
The Spurs paid €25M to sign from Genoa last January and weren’t willing to loan him it. They didn’t want to record a loss either, so the suitors would have had to spend about €30M. The Bianconeri and the Partenopei shot their shoots during the summer and are unlikely to make a splash in the next window.
Our Take on Dragusin, Juventus, and Napoli
He would have been a strong addition and worth a moderate investment, but signing him always seemed a little far-fetched given the recency of his previous transfer. He shouldn’t completely fall off the radar, though, as he could be a bargain come July.
