Dumfries: “Inter Must Do a Better Second Part of the Season”

With the breaks pulled onto the Serie A due to the World Cup, Inter full-back Denzel Dumfries provided his insight on his squad’s season so far.

Despite the Nerazzurri having a dreadful start to the campaign, their impressive 3-2 victory over Atalanta has enabled Inzgahi’s squad to bounce into fifth with 30 points, eleven points away from the league-leaders Napoli.

In addition, Inter have managed to qualify for the Round of 16 after snatching four points off of Spanish giants Barcelona, moving onto the next stage alongside Bayern Munich.

A victory over I Partenopei when the Italian league resumes at the beginning of January would enable Inter to claw back into the title-race and increase their chances of finishing within the top-four.

While speaking to the media, via FcInternews, Dumfries gave his perspective of Inter’s season thus far:

“We had a very inconsistent first half of the season with Inter. We qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, but we lost too many points in Serie A. The fact that there is now a World Cup seems like an advantage because I think there really will be two different competitions. It will be different.

Inter must do a better second part of the season and I myself have not always been satisfied with my form. We have been fickle, myself included. Now in a different environment you wipe the slate clean, that’s how it works sometimes.”
