Dybala and Paredes Snub Saudi Bids, New Talent Incoming

Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes received lucrative bids from Saudi Arabia but won’t leave Roma there this summer. The former turned down a three-year contract with €20M wages from Al-Nassr. Instead, the midfielder was targeted by Al-Ahli, which would have paid him €10M annually, TuttoSport informs.

The midfielder thought about it a little more but decided to stay put in the Italian capital, much to the delight of coach Daniele De Rossi, who counts on both for the upcoming season and wishes to add a third Argentine to the mix, Matias Soulé.

Roma didn’t sign Enzo Le Fée to replace Paredes and were always confident Dybala would stay put. The talks to renew his contract will kick into high gear in August after the expiration of his €12M release clause, Ansa informs. There’s mutual interest in getting a new deal done as the current one expires in 2025.

On top of keeping two of their own, the Giallorossi are closing in on the acquisition of Samuel Dahl from Djurgardens. He’s long been their preferred target to bolster the left-back role. If everything goes well, they’ll pay around €4,5 M, Corriere dello Sport informs.

Instead, their favorite option for the other defensive wing is Rennes’ Lorenz Assignon. They have shown interest but haven’t tabled a formal bid for now, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

Our Take on Roma, Paredes, and Dybala

They are having a strong summer and couldn’t afford to go back to square one by losing a linchpin. It’s a bit odd that nobody has ever pursued La Joya seriously in recent campaigns, but the bond with his club might simply be too strong.
