Dybala Dishes on His Contract and Praises Mourinho

Paulo Dybala discussed his future, how Roma convinced him to join, and his relationship with José Mourinho in an interview with Marca.

“Everybody welcomed me in incredible fashion. The passion is very strong in his city. The stadium is always filled to the brim even though it’s very big. They made me feel at home since day one.”

The Argentine was quizzed about his relatively low release clause.

“We’ll surely address it down the line. My future is here, as I aim to bring Roma to the top, and I think we will manage.”

Dybala lauded Mourinho and explained what drove him to join him in the Italian capital.

“His behavior and character help you a lot and make you tackle each practice as if it was a game. Every match is like a final to him. He has a unique way to experience them, and I identify with that a lot. Losing always leaves a bitter taste in his mouth, whether it’s a friendly or a crunch fixture. We are very similar in that regard.”

“It was pleasing to hear him talk highly of me considering how much he has won and how many great players he has coached. His past helps us a lot. His communication style is his signature trait. All his phone calls convinced me to come to Rome to work with him. I’ve had the chance to feature next to some of the best footballers in the word throughout my career and also to be managed by one of the top gaffers in history now. That’s something I desired.”
